Healing Is Not Optional: Why We Put Mental Health at the Center

At She Wins Totally, we believe you cannot build a business, a family, or a future on a broken foundation. That's why mental health is not a side program — it is the core of everything we do.

There is a conversation happening in women's spaces across the country — a slow, powerful shift in how we talk about mental health. For too long, especially in communities of color, healing was seen as a luxury, a weakness, or something to be done quietly and privately, if at all.

At She Wins Totally, we reject that narrative completely.

You Cannot Pour from an Empty Cup

We say it all the time, but it bears repeating: you cannot show up for your children, your community, your business, or your dreams if you are running on empty. Mental health is not a side issue. It is the foundation. Everything we build — every goal we set, every relationship we nurture, every obstacle we overcome — rests on the state of our inner world.

This is why mental health support is not an add-on to our programming. It is woven into everything we do.

What Healing Looks Like at She Wins Totally

In partnership with The Well for Life, we host healing circles — safe, facilitated spaces where women can share, process, and support one another without judgment. These are not therapy sessions (though we always encourage professional support when needed). They are community spaces where vulnerability is welcomed and strength is celebrated.

We also incorporate wellness into our empowerment events, our self-care days, and our resource navigation services. When a woman comes to us for help with housing or employment, we see the whole person — not just the immediate need.

Breaking the Stigma

One of the most important things we can do is simply talk about mental health openly and without shame. When our leaders share their own healing journeys — when Kenyatta talks about what it took to rebuild after her own storms — it gives other women permission to do the same.

Healing is not weakness. Asking for help is not failure. Choosing to invest in your mental and emotional wellbeing is one of the most powerful, courageous things you can do.
